Remembering Satchmo

The day was August 4th. Depending on which source you trust, the year was either 1900 or 1901. The place was New Orleans. The event was the birth of the iconic trumpet player, and unique voice that is still remembered for one of his songs that debuted in the year I graduated from high school, 1967. (Yes, I am older than dirt).

The song is fondly remembered by people of all ages. Those who remembered it back then, and those who have heard it in movies and other platforms. The message is pure. The original verson released on ABC Records at the time, included a spoken intro that provides an explanation why he sings the song.

He was an excellent trumpet player, although his vocal talents only were on display for us to hear, and take to heart his message. I post the original from Youtube for your memory banks to store… or restore…
