The Big Reveal

If you read an earlier blog post entitled ‘The Experiment’, you’ll recall my evaluating ways to stock my food needs in a way that would best utilize space and weight, with little or no refrigeration needed, while providing optimum nutrients for my diet, minimal waste, and prep time. I also looked for a food source that would provide variety, and ease of clean up (less greasy kitchenware) to worry about after the meal.

That led to a company specializing in freeze-dried fruit, along with dehydrated protein sources and vegetables. I ordered a sample kit that included many packets of their products to try and determine if this was what I was seeking.

My evaluation checked off all the boxes for me and I am now gearing up to purchase enough product to last at least thirty days on the road, serving 3 quality meals each day for me, and my four-legged companion, Squirty

The evaluation started with taste tests, making meals using these products. I knew going in that I would need to add my own spices to create dishes that I would enjoy consuming. Without that personalized flavoring, the food would be very bland and ‘unappealing’. With the spices, two thumbs up.

In addition to these products, I will also be including other ‘dry’ ingredients that fit the criteria, like long grain enriched white rice, brown rice, pasta, powdered milk, powdered eggs, raw honey, and protein powder. In each instance, they can either be ordered in advance to be picked up at a location I’ll be near at the expected delivery date, or can be purchased at stores along the way.

Here are some of the things that I’ll be purchasing from Harmony House.

The initial investment for a packed pantry is fairly close to the cost of purchasing the same amount of food from traditional grocery outlets, except, some of these items will last far past the 30 days, weigh far less than canned goods, don’t need refrigeration, and won’t spoil like fresh protein sources, fruits, and veggies.

I was so impressed with the food, fast turnaround and helpful people, that I inquired about, and was accepted as an affiliate. That means if you click on the Harmony House Banner above, and order from my link to their website, anything you purchase will cost you the same as if you just went there on your own, except, I will earn a small commission. You’ll be helping us continue our efforts in bringing you more information and stories about our life ‘On The Road’.

So… Thank You !
